When I graduated from college, the best career advice I never followed was to build my . As an introvert with a borderline avoidant-personality-disorder, I preferred the mellow illumination of my computer screen, and the sound of a keyboard clicking like rain on a tin roof, over actually meeting people. In retrospect, my understanding of and was naïve.

Now I know that networking is the key to success. Fifteen years of working with other professionals taught me that. More recently, interviews with over a dozen professionals in the health and wellness industry drove the point home.

General and standalone health are facing a double whammy. With exponential rise in coronavirus-positive cases, reported Covid claims have topped 200,000, worth over Rs 3,000 crore, and are set to rise further as cases explode. Furthermore, non-Covid claims, which were muted in the initial months of the pandemic, have also picked up pace and are more or less at pre-Covid levels.

Although feel loss ratios in the health segment may get impacted, and profitability will take a hit, capital erosion will not take place, at least for the large entities.

“Non-Covid health claims are more or less reaching pre-Covid levels. The Covid-19 claims were unanticipated. We have to see how the entire year plays out. There was some benefit of discretionary claims not taking place in the first three-four months of the pandemic,” said a chief executive officer

Apple today unveiled two new wearables: the Watch Series 6 and lower-cost Watch SE alongside a new Fitness+ workout service. 

The new Apple Watch models are available for pre-order today and slated to arrive on Friday. The Series 6, which features a new blood oxygen sensor and app, starts at $399 for the GPS-only model and $100 more for the GPS and cellular version. The Watch SE, which boasts design elements of the Series 6 with key health and safety features like fall detection, starts at $279 for the GPS-only model or $329 for the GPS and cellular version. 

The Series 6 and SE will not come with a USB power adapter. Apple says it made that decision to help the environment, and it will have the same impact as eliminating 50,000 cars from the roads per

(AUM) for domestic (ETFs) have crossed the Rs 2-trillion mark.

In the past five months of FY21, AUM have surged more than Rs 60,000 crore, or 41 per cent.

A large portion of this was driven by the surge in share prices, while net inflows were also healthy at Rs 20,000 crore.

Further, more than half a million new ETF folios were opened. Market players said the huge number of actively-managed schemes in the large-cap space have failed to outperform the Nifty and Sensex in the past few years.

As a result, a lot of investors are turning to ETFs. In the past five years, AUM for ETFs have jumped nearly 5x.

At present, the Nifty remains the most popular index for ETFs, with assets crossing Rs 1 trillion.
